I Didn't Ride Today

It was 21 degrees outside this morning. We got a little bit of snow and there were ice patches on the roads. Plus I think God doesn't like me sometimes. I swear every time I commute the wind changes to blow into my face. Yesterday afternoon on my homeward trek it was a 10-15 mph out of the south, and I work north and west from where we live. In the morning it was 5-10 mph out of the north. See the pattern? On top of all that, and my legs were tired after 140 miles of riding in 6 days. I tried to get some sympathy from The Other (Younger) Half, and she told me that everyone knows that after a two week layoff, one shouldn't ride 5 out of 6 days. There needs to be some recovery time. "But I'm special," I protested. "Yes, you are special," was her reply. I think the specialness I was speaking of was not the same specialness that was on her mind. And not in a good way. She used to supervise group homes for the developmentally disabled.

Sorry, you can't be "special." I already have dibs on that role in our family as the poor brave deef girl.

Listen, I'll put up my differently-abled blubber and yellowish to brownish-black teeth against your deefness any day.

Well now, THAT presents an interesting visual, does it not?
Tracy, the pictures of your son playing basketball were fabulous! The girls and I looked through them for quite awhile, "voting" on our favorites...send Caleb our congratulations.

The skill of the photographer makes all the difference! I'd love to see the pix myself!
