Why I Don't Like The State Fair

1) I have to change my very convenient bike ride to work because of all the traffic. Plus my in-laws live in Roseville 2 miles from the Fairgrounds. Getting to Roseville and back is very annoying this time of year, even moreso with a missing bridge.

2) I am tired of hearing about all the different kinds of food one can "get on a stick." It's not funny or cute anymore.

3) I am tired of turning on the local news and having to watch a bunch of Gomers mugging for the camera in the background so they can go home and say, "Hey maw, I gots myself into that there moving picture box in your living room. Didja see me?"

That is all.

What was a highlight from today?

Having some fat lady in her Camry honk at me simply because I was riding down Dale St. I was on the far right side of the right lane. I guess she was to lazy to take her flabby arms to move the steering wheel over a couple of inches or her foot was too fat to lift up and press on the brake. Not too lazy to honk the horn though. I'm sure it's very difficult as a driver to lose 5 seconds by having to slow down for a biker. That 5 seconds could save somebody's life!!!! Everyone out of my way!!! I'm in my car!!! Oh wait, I caught up to her at a stop light 2 blocks later.

Hey, at least you have wide lanes and shoulders on your roads. Down here we have cow paths and trails that were paved over and called "roads."

There's hardly room for cars as the cure for congestion is to add more lanes by making existing lanes thinner and taking a bit of the sidewalk (if there is any). And many times these roads were given 2 to 4-inch, squared-off curbs. (Yeah, I know: what???)

I applaud the cyclists in this city, but I'd need full body armor to get out there. Drivers in this town barely respect other cars, much less bikes and pedestrians. The drivers here aren't lazy, they're aggressive.

We have the mere suggestion of bike paths (which are separate from the roads), and there's always talk of expansion but then some idiots start with the NIMBY, claiming that criminals will use them to get around the city easier (you know, just like they'll use public transportation to support their crime spree).
